Product Description

The Uniden Clock Radio Scanner is a multi-featured conventional channel scanner with all hazards alert. The scanner allows you to store and then scan up to 300 channels distributed over 10 banks. It also alerts you when NOAA or any broadcast station the scanner is tuned to issues an EAS (Emergency Alert System). Other features include a service search and weather scan, listening to TV on the radio (channels 2-13), and an alarm clock with snooze function. In addition to your favorite broadcast channels, this clock radio keeps you in tune with public safety, police and fire departments, NOAA weather reports, and more.

With channel memory, this unit scans frequencies at a rate of up to 70 channels per second to help you find the channel you're looking for. If you know exactly what you want, direct channel access let's you quickly dial in to your favorite channel. For faster scanning, you can even use a channel/frequency lockout function to skip over stored frequencies.

This clock radio scanner has all the functions of regular radio/alarm clock. The scanner, in standby mode, displays the time. The alarm clock can sound up to 20 minutes or be shut off manually. A convenient snooze button lets you silent the alarm for an extra five minutes.

You can listen to AM/FM and TV channels 2-13 or use them as your snooze alarm in the morning. You can store up to 30 broadcast channels (10 AM and 20 FM/TV) for quick and easy access. Ten frequencies can be set as priority channels which the clock radio scans and checks every two seconds.

The Clock Radio Scanner's LCD lighted display can be enabled or disabled. A key touch-tone sounds to confirm you've made a valid key input while another tone alerts you of an invalid entry. The scanner requires AA batteries and will let you know when batteries are low and when they need to be replaced. This unit comes with the manufacturer's 1-year limited warranty.

Small Unit does a LOT of things for the money!

Review Date: July 18, 2006

One night my husband and I were out on the porch discussing various things from our youth. Somehow the subject of police scanners came up. We needed a new clock radio with alarm and since we live on an island in NE in a flood zone I joked that what we needed was a police/fire/emergency scanner with built in radio, weather band that could be taken on the run.

Not being well versed on today's scanners (I am of the era of Smokey and the Bandit) was very surprised and delighted to find they do make such an item. It does an awful lot for a small sized unit. And being an electronic brand name snob I felt I could take the chance on getting a well made unit from bearcat/uniden.

Well we set it all up and programmed it BUT found lots of discrepancies on the web as far as what the correct frequency numbers are for police/fire in our area. So we let it do its thing where it scanned and picked up local frequencies and some from far away as well.

It was the weekend so we could not call the toll free number provided with the directions (directions? We don't need no stinkin' directions!) which will tell you the freqency numbers of services in your area.

Rather than that, however, my husband opted to bring it to a local man who for a small fee entered the areas/services we were looking for. i imagine the true scanner enthusiast would of called or had those numbers already. Just be careful of info found on the web.

The weather alert/band features are interesting and handy to have, too. We have lived through various hurricanes/blizzards and it is nice to have something informative that runs on batteries as well as standard electric.

We found we liked it so much we put it on the kitchen counter and as such left unmet our original need for a bedside clock radio alarm. So I still need to buy one of those for the bedroom!

It also picks up some TV stations. Again, in a power outage handy to have. Oh yes you will cry if the power goes out too long but suck it up like we do. On New Years eve we lost power on our island and had to LISTEN to the ball fall during the Dick Clark Rockin New Years Eve show. To all life some rain must fall.

So far the most interesting thing we heard on the police scanner was concerning a man who somehow super-glued himself to a urinal wall. Never saw anything about it in the paper, either.
Totally Unnecessary but Totally Useful

Just another toy that I could live without. But it sure is lots of fun scanning the frequencies, listening to police, fire, and airport chatter.
GREAT weather radio. This function is real nice.
Do you need this item - absolutely not.
Will you have fun with it - absolutely yes.
A Good Scanner

This is one of the best scanners I have ever purchased. Great quality and awesome reception. I purchased two of these. One for my residence and one for the Firehouse, and no one has anything bad to say. I would recommend this product to anyone.

Reviewer: John Clemmer,
This was a replacement for a very old uniden/bearcat scanner. It works very well for what I am using it for. The BEST half has it in the kitchen away from all the water or moisture sources. I have an external antenna attched and it brings in signals from a long ways out. Great Scanner.

I've used a handheld scanner for 10 years and bought this to listen to local police and fire. I paid less for this than my handheld but I get much more for the money.

Excellent And Compact Scanner / Emergency Weather Radio

There are many excellent reviews for this unit which is why I bought it. I have to say that it is everything they said it was. Compact, high quality, and easy to use. One unique feature is it automatically turns on when there is an emergency weather alert in your area. When they test the system it will turn on and make a strange beeping noise which can be startling at times but when the test if over it turns itself off. I also like the fact that it also has batteries so you can hear emergency channels even if the power goes off.

A great unit.
