Uses For A Gmrs Radio
One technological advancement that has really been beneficial for small businesses and families is the development of two way radios. There are many types including your standard retail variety walkie talkies, to UHF and GMRS radios, and Ham and CB radios. They all have their benefits and special uses for the individual. Particularly for people on the go, the GMRS radio has been extremely useful for folks who are outdoorsmen, families on vacation at a theme park, or even small business owners. It seems that cell phones have diminished this trend somewhat, but the GMRS still have a solid offering for many people. Let us take a closer look at this splendid radio system and see how it can benefit you. Now, cell phones are convenient and very effective for personal communications. This biggest problem with cells phones is the monthly charges you will incur from using them. I think we all have had a bad experience where we were not totally aware of how our cell phone charges were structured, and we ended up get a rude surprise at the end of the month with a monster bill to pay. You will not have this problem with a GMRS type radio system, once you buy the radio and obtain your license you can use it as much as you like and it will not cost you a dime. That is correct, these radio systems are very cheap to operate, and the units are comparable in price to any cell phone on the market today. I should mention one minor inconvenience of a GMRS radio system, and that is the fact that you must be licensed to operate the radio. All you need to do is be eighteen years or older, and have no allegiance ties to any other government other than the United States, and you are free to apply for you license. The license application costs a line time fee of less than one hundred dollars, but let us face this is about the same as many of the more elaborate cell phone bills. Once your license application is processed, and you have an issued valid license to operate, you and your immediate family may use the GMRS radios as much as you like. There are some situations and purposes where the General Mobil Radio Service radio phones are much better than a cell phone. For one thing, any outdoor enthusiast like hunters, fisherman, or backpackers will appreciate the range of these phones. In tight congested countryside they will easily operate within a one mile radius. If you are out in the open, like in a valley or desert plain, a GMRS radio will easily have a range of five miles, and many times much more than that. If you want to use an antennae you can increase your range of operation to up to twenty miles. If you are a small business owner these phones are much better for you operations than using cells phones. First off, you will not have the monthly cell phone fees to deal with which saves you a bundle of money every years. Secondly, these radios are always on and anyone who has one in their hand is instantly in the loop of communication with everyone else who has a radio on also. Also, the voice reception is much clearer and stronger with these radios than with a cell phone and you will have crystal clear communications with them. If you are looking to add to your portable radio experience then you need to consider purchasing GMRS radios. CB radios?? superstar??
i recently found a Superstar 3900g CB radio in the attic of the house i’m renting. the owner told me finders keepers, so i want to try and use it…only thing is i dont know anything about them. i think it has 120 channels but on different bans? but i dont know anything about the different bans..D/A, E/B, F/C..can anyone shed any light on how i would set this up..say on low 24..if that is even the right term to use. I will be using a Wilson 5000 for an antenna. Anyone have one cb or wilson? Reviews? websites? thx in advance!
it is a cb that mounts in your car/truck..not a base station…120 channels = 3 bans of 40 channels?
Way off.
40 channels(older might have 31)
those letters are meanings for different operations. I have never seem them before. Low 24? That antenna is good but will need to be tuned in. Is it a base or portable radio. Ive got two boxes of each in my room. Post more info on the radio itself and I will tell you more. You will need a car battery or rectefier if it is a non base radio because it is designed to hook into a car battery. Most base radios will pug into wall.
You dont need a license to operate CBs anymore too. Awesome.
