The CommandMic III--which fits comfortably in the palm of your hand--in effect serves as a second station for your vessel. Need to call a fellow boater or make a distress call but don't have time to trudge all the way to the main radio? Pick up a CommandMic III, an ideal communications accessory for the deck, fly bridge, or main cabin (the mic must be located within 70 feet of the main radio). The mic sports such features as a sizable built-in LCD, an extra-large 1.7-inch speaker, and a multifunction jog dial that offers quick and easy access to all the controls on your radio, including channel selection, volume, squelch, menu settings, DSC calls, and foghorn functions. You can even use the CommandMic III to talk with the main unit as an intercom, making onboard communication easier than ever. The CommandMic III comes with 19.7 feet of extension cable, a microphone hanger, and a mounting base for the cable connector (the connection point is nearly flush with the mounting surface). And crucially for a marine microphone, the unit is waterproof to JIS 8 standards, meaning you can submerge it in 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes without damaging the electronics. The HM-162B, which boasts a sleek white housing (an alternate black version is available), measures 2.58 by 5.9 by 1.5 inches (W x H x D) and is covered by a three-year waterproof warranty.
