cb radios and walkie talkies?
i have a cb radio in my car and i would like to be able to talk to someone in a home or in a car without a cb radio i was woundering if someone could tell me the brand name and or type of walkie talkie that can talk to cb radios i know that they make them i just dont know the name thankyou
I assume your CB radio has 23 or 40 channels and you can hear the truckers talking on channel 19.
You would need a CB walkie talkie, not so common these days but there are still some out there. Try radio shack or a truck stop if you want something local, otherwise look on the net. You are wanting a “40 channel CB radio”. (they used to make them with fewer channels but anything built in the last 20 years will be 40ch)
The FRS/GMRS radios that are very common these days Will Not work with your CB. FRS/GMRS radios typically have 14, 15 or 21 channels and often have “subchannels” or “privacy codes”.

The many uses of walkie talkies radios
Communication is an integral part of society. This is how governments manage their countries, plan and monitor the travel of an important person, or simply how a husband expresses his affection for his wife. All that and more could not be possible without any sort of communication involved. Computers, cell phones, and the internet have aided in the progress of being in touch with old friends, families, and colleagues and the communications world does not stop there. Among its many inventions to improve understanding between and among people are the walkie talkie radios.
Walkie talkie radios work just like a cell phone but it transmits through a signal or frequency. Just like a telephone, it works on a two-way basis – meaning one cannot communicate with the other without both having walkie talkie radios. Instead of dialing a phone number, both users have to be on the same frequency that can be set on their devices to communicate with each other. Depending on the location and the unit itself, frequencies can reach up to hundreds and users need only to select one that has the strongest signal to receive loud and clear communication. Antennas that are detachable also help in searching for signals when needed.
Like any hand-held device, walkie talkie radios have their own set of chargers. These chargers are specifically made to recharge the radios’ batteries according to its capacity. The number of hours with which users can utilize this device varies with how heavily it is used. Walkie talkie radios are portable and can be taken anywhere; uses can stay mobile and not be restricted while staying in touch with the other party. Previous models are big and quite heavy but thankfully newer walkie talkie radios are just right in size that one can easily carry or clip on their belts.
Walkie talkie radios are used among the police force to make it easier to monitor where they are needed or when they need to call for back-up. With a push of a button, they are immediately connected to the other’s signal without having to wait for it to ring. People who work in the field such as engineers, driller, or excavators take advantage of walkie talkie radios to communicate faster with their counterparts.
Another use of walkie talkie radios is for monitoring events at a certain big gathering or at a hotel where the concierge needs to check the availability of rooms without having to get up and see for themselves.
These are just some uses of walkie talkie radios and there could be a lot more where instant communication is called for.
