what is shortwave radio?
I am considering getting a shortwave radio. I live in the US (ohio to be exact). I want to know first of all the basics of sw radio (how it works, what kind of stations can be picked up, etc.). I also want to know if i could pick up radio signals from other countries (such as england, russia, japan, korea, etc…any country overseas)? Also, do i need a lisence to operate it?
You never need a license to listen…only transmit.
Shortwave stations can be picked up from all over the world, yes. Many countries still have news/talk stations. US stations are almost all leased out to religious nutcakes.
